Heather and I have been very busy lately and we apologize for not posting her last appointment sooner!
This last appointment was on May 9th at the new Southwest branch of Northeast OBGYN, and by new I mean no landscaping, no company sign, no much at all as far as the exterior of the building goes but once walking inside, we were impressed with the new office...
We knew going into the appointment that there was not going to be any major items to look at or go over-just a routine check-up on Heather and Taylor. Heather weighed in at a half pound lighter than her previous appointment, which I thought wasn't good, but Dr. Blackmon assured us that she is just fine. Her blood pressure measured normal, and the best news of the appointment is that her belly measured larger than the normal for the stage she was at. She was at 23.5 weeks and Dr. said she measured at a 25 week length!!
Heather did find out that her next appointment is not going to be as relaxing-she is going to need to fast before the appointment since they are going to do some blood work, and some other tests as well.
Her next appointment is set for June 5th...
By the way we have the nursery looking really good-it's been painted a nice green color, the crib and changing table are put together and in their positions, we have two swings, an eggsosaucer, a bouncy seat, a dresser, and a nightstand all in that tiny room! We are pretty much ready for our boy to take it over!!!
Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to seeing our out-of-state family soon!!
God Bless!

April 10, 2008!!

The day finally arrived! Today Heather and I are going to find out if we're having a boy or a girl!
Her appointment was scheduled at 3:00 in the afternoon at the Parkview North location (as opposed to the branch located on Carew St. where we had been going) and it is very nice inside the office. The nurse (Jill) did not waste anytime getting us into one of their ultrasound rooms (I think we were in the room at 3:05!). Jill told us right up front that she had been doing ultrasounds for over 20 years now and that she would tell us anything that she could about the baby and the ultrasound images.
Her first question, and most important, was if we wanted to know whether the baby was a boy or a girl and of course we said YES! She started right in and began showing us the head area. And by the way since this office is very new we got to view the entire ultrasound on a 42" widescreen! She showed us the legs, arms, fingers, heart (we could see all 4 ventricles!), bladder (was full!), spine, it was all so amazing!
Then came the most critical area of all and we saw that are baby had HIS kickstand! Heather and I were so happy as you could imagine! Another Pedersen boy to carry on the name!
We have decided on the name Taylor and are still deciding on a middle name which will be revealed in the hospital after his birth!
After the ultrasound room, Heather and I were taken to a normal exam room where we met with Dr. Blackmon to go over the results of the ultrasound. She told us that everything was progressing perfectly and that the due date is still correct. We also found out that Heather has gained back all the weight she lost from her previous sickness!
Heather and I want to thank everyone who has kept us in their thoughts and prayers and we ask that you continue your wonderful support. We are looking to register at Babies R Us and Target soon.
Wishing everyone a great spring!

Heather and her latest sickness...
As everyone knows there has been a flu bug circulating around here and across the country recently. The bug hit Heather last Sunday (March 9th) and got her a good one!
Early that Sunday morning she was awoke by an upset stomach. She managed to get through the morning without any problems till around 6 a.m.. She encountered vomiting and diarrhea. This went on till around noon once every hour (I have never seen her so sick).
Dave and Aleta then came over after their chuch service ended and picked up a script (Thank you both again for doing this) that Dr. Blackman had written for Phenergan, went and filled it, returned, and we gave it to Heather so she could stop feeling the nausea. It worked and she didn't have any more problems the rest of the day.
She stayed home from work Monday to get some rest and try to gain some of her strength back. The only problem that seemed to bother her all day was a sore chest from the vomitting.
Tuesday morning she made a call into Dr. Blackman's office and scheduled an appointment to make sure everything was okay with her and the baby. Come to find out she lost over 12 lbs. during the days she was sick. After checking the babys heartbeat, and scheduling a follow up appt. for Friday, Dr. Blackman wanted Heather to walk over to the ER at Parkview North (Dr. Blackman's north office is attached to Parkview North Hospital) and get some fluids in her body to stop the dehydration and start getting her to gain some of her weight back she had lost. At that point she called me at work and wanted me to meet her at the ER.
The hospital ended up pumping 2 liters of fluids into her that afternoon which made Heather feel much better. Her appetite started to come back shortly after we got home from the Hospital (she ate mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and I believe some ice cream!!)
At her appointment on Friday everything checked out wonderful (although they found a higher level of sugar in her system-from the Jamocha shake she had before her appt.!!) She had gained 3.5 lbs back and her belly measured slightly larger than her last appt.. We got to hear the heartbeat again (so wonderful-beating ever so perfectly), and scheduled her next appt. for April 10th. We confirmed with Dr. Blackman that we will receive an ultrasound and get to find out the sex of the baby at that appt.!!!!!!
Until next time, this has been another long typed message from Mr. Pedersen!
P.S. Heather and I want to thank Jack and Evelyn again for picking up Heather and bringing her to her appt. Tuesday with Dr. Blackman.

Heather's Recent Dr. Appointment
Hope everyone is doing well. This is our first post on our blog so hopefully it turns out okay!
Heather and I went to see her OB Dr (Dr. Blackmon) on Friday, February 22. The first part of the appointment the nurse recorded her weight (was the same as her last appt.) and her blood pressure (112/80). She then asked Heather which hospital she would prefer to deliver at (Parkview North) and the baby's fathers name (my one and only participation in the appointment!!). After waiting a few minutes Dr. Blackmon came in and finished the rest of the appointment. She asked if Heathers nausea was decreasing (it has a little) and if she filled in the script she gave Heather at her last appointment for Phenigan (sp?) (she didn't due to the risk of so many side effects). She told Heather to be sure she is eating healthy and not to go too long between meals. Dr. Blackmon also informed us of these new eggs they have come out with that have Omega-3 in them which give her nutrients she needs for her as well as the baby. Heather asked if those are found in Skim milk since she goes through about a gallon every 3 days! (No they aren't but the Dr. was pleased to hear she was getting a whole bunch of Calcium!!).
Then the part of the appointment that Heather and I couldn't wait for-hearing the heartbeat of the little one!! It was hard at first for Dr. Blackmon to find it but when she did it was easy to hear-it is such a miracle that the baby is only the size of a peach but has a profound heartbeat! It was such a wonderful feeling for us to hear that little heart just ticking away!
Well I hope this gives you an idea of how Heathers appointment went.
Take care and God Bless!
